Kickin' myself...
FWIW,
My oil pressure is still very good, 1 1/2 years after I cleaned the pickup tube out.
I hope it works out as well for you.
This was the first motor swap I've ever done and it's been just me and the Haynes manual (and my 10 year old for those hard to reach bolts.)This oil pump fiasco was also my first time changing a pump with the motor in - but so far it's working fine.
Had I been paying more attention to what you wrote I would have happily saved 45 minutes and some solvent and plunked down my $17 + tax for the pickup - it just honestly never occured to me to replace it

Oil pan was clean, no gasket parts or anthing else in there. I cleaned it well when I had it apart the first time and then cleaned it again this time.
PITA job, made more annoying by the fact that I wouldn't have had to do it at all if I had slowed down and thought a bit, but I learned a couple of things so it was worth it - next time I have a motor out it'll get a new high volume pump AND pickup while I've got it on the stand.

Thanks for the help!
It's just a beater I picked up for a boat puller/general hauler. '90 F250 (build date is 11/89) extended cab with 8' bed, 5 speed, 4x4, 351w. Body is in decent shape and it's loaded for it's age (power windows/locks, cruise, A/C). I got the truck for $400 since it was blown up so I didn't get hurt on it at all, especially since I've only put about $300 more in it, including the 'new' motor, gauges, tune up stuff, and assorted other pieces and parts.
I'm getting ready to build a 30 x 30 shop and once I get that up I'm planning on doing a frame off on a 70s Ford truck or Bronco, whichever I happen to come across first for less
Either way the project is getting a newer EFI motor in it, just to really make it a complicated project. Gotta have something to do in the winter when I'm not fishing and I've already rebuilt my boat motor powerhead and lower unit and made a bunch of mods to the hull so there's no more bolts left to turn on that......
