First Post!!

Hi everyone!

I have been Browsing for a while but decided it was time to post. I am working on a 53 f-250 Flathead v8. The truck is my dad's that he got from his uncle in south Dakota(farm truck sat for a long time) The odometer said 33,xxx, I am pretty sure that is all original miles.
We got the truck in 1992 sat til 2004 then I torn it apart and got the frame sandblasted then sat til now. I am not back on track to get this thing done in a year or two.

From what I have seen on her, There are not weak spots, just surface rust. From other truck I have seen on the internet, I have a very solid truck and it should make for any easy "easier" build.

As it was in 1992 when we got her

Then She in 2004

Welcome to the fun.. are you doing a stock kind of restore, or are you coming over to the dark side of customizations?

Well I would love to do a total custom but it isnt my money and I dont think i can talk him into spending a lot more money. Maybe when it becomes my truck I will. I Want to bag something, I miss my old car.

But then I think it is going to be totally stock.

What do you guys think is the best way to go. 6 volt or 12 volt??? I wanted to do 12 but my dad was thinking keep it 6volt

Nice truck to start with!
6 volt if you are going totally stock, otherwise convert to 12 volt for the conveniece.
Enjoy, Brian

That is a nice 53! The bed looks great. I have a 52 and I decided that I can always convert to 12V, but will not change back. So I'm sticking with 6V for a while. An american company named "DEKA" sells nice big 1000+CCA 6V batteries that will fit in there. (Available at many parts stores except NAPA and a few others.) Good luck.

Hello and Welcome to FTE.

I was looking at your pictures and you have a number of things on your truck that are VERY difficult to find in original state. Youtruck looks like it's in great condition.

Have fun with it!

Welcome aboard David, that's a solid looking truck. I'd say that is a better start than most of us have had. Post more pics as you move along with the build.
Best wishes, Mike

What on there do you think is hard to find in original state???

I got the axles ready to go back on the frame. Then i do that i plan on getting it back to my house, cuz I hate having to drive to our warehouse to work on it.

Great start! Welcome to FTE!

A frame-off resto is a very big job..and takes a long time...And space.. may want to fix what you can and drive the beast for awhile..create some memories...when the funds are together, then tear into it!! ...but get those brakes up-graded so you don't dent that "Patina"... Welcome to FTE!

..." Patina " is refered to as the original finish..or what's left of it. Old original ,faded, paint with rustspots, paint worn away...the more original the better in some eyes. An original aged finish. A straight body without bondo, primer, welded patches etc,etc..
Did you already prep and paint the body? a straight body like yours is always a good starting Point.Good Luck!
