Since we are not sure his filter is the culprit, we need to narrow it down some with the information we have. Since he has ICP codes it needs to be unplugged as suggested. See if it runs right then. If not, fuel system is a good next candidate.
That's good advice, but it doesn't sound like ICP symptoms to me, though. Both times I gelled, I did get the low/uncontrollable ICP codes. I'm sticking with the fuel supply theory, even though he should do the unplug test since it's so easy.

I recall the same thing being said about the #8 cylinder issue, couldn't be cause by a CPS.
Mostly just throwing some ideas out there, though.
A cylinder # 8 code being thrown seems to be a problem with the new cps. But i have never read anyone having a poor running issue and it turning out to be the CPS.
so do i have to wait till the truck does this again before i can unplug the sensor? cause it always happens when im goin down the road. and also my truck is taking longer to crank as well too
When my CPS went south it had the same symptoms. It would run poorly, then run fine until it finally died. But then again my fuel pump was also on it's way out.
