Only Peter and Paul

Mary Travers died today ( of Peter Paul and Mary for the kids).

This one got to me a little, I remember the group well -- although I never knew that they took themselves so seriously. I really liked a lot of their stuff.

Puff the magic dragon was not about smoking dope but originated from a poem by Lenny Lipton about the lost innocence of childhood. one of the best songs ever.

She was 72. That makes me stop and think about how old I am getting. She was a voice from my youth. The choir in heaven just got sweeter.

I STILL don't know how that urban legend (smoking marijuana) started....Except it was the 60s, of course......

Listen to the lyrics and the 'lost innocence of childhood' storyline becomes clear.

Classic.

Born in 1936. 10 years older than the oldest of the boomers. I forget what they call the folks too young to be the 'greatest generation', and too old to be a 'boomer'........
