There used to be a guy... He would sit on SR 44 (or is it 40 that runs through the ONF?) just east of town. I'd pick up a few pounds on my way to Orlando. I loved them. I'd get to the in laws house and throw the rest in the fridge. I'd microwave them later and they'd be as good as when the got out of the pot.
Herman, I don't know how long its been since you were down here but there's been the same guy parked near the Ocala Nat'l Forest for at least six years that I know of. We use to get our roasted and Steve's boiled peanuts from him but he became too expensive and his nuts kept getting smaller (that don't sound right).
Oh, and the only way I like ocra is fried........yum.
Anyone ever have pralines? I was in the warehouse district of New Orleans the other day, at a place called "The Butcher". They make very good pralines with hunks of maple bacon in it. YUMMY.
I imagine that with many of these things, a lot of the likes and dislikes depend on the cook and the recipe. I never liked fried green tomatos until my in-laws fixed them and now I love them.
