390 motor mount positioning problem
I am working on a 74 F359 with a 390 engine. The engine mounts have a pimple sticking out below (above) the bolt that enters the frame. First I am not sure which way this goes. i assume it goes down yet it can't do very much because the slot in the frame bracket is much larger tyhan the pimple.
I sure could use another 1/2" clearance between my cross memkber and my new shorty headers.
If I install the mounts with the pimple on the top it would move my engine back just the right amount. Does the trans fit? I do not know yet. I plan on slapping the tranny on and sliding the unit down in the beginning of next week.
I am not sure if flipping the mounts would rasie the engine or not.
So, what do those pimples do??????????
Has any opne played around with the mounts. I am making this truck niot necessarly a daily driver but one that will tow anywhere I want to go.
