Check out Bassani Exhaust. It's a little pricey but you will never worry about it again. As for the tailgate, roll the rear window all the way down. (Switch on the dashboard or the keyswitch in the gate) Inside at the top center of the gate is a release handle. Reach in and pull up on it. Gate should drop as long as the rear window is all the way down. (Don't think I need to mention this but, if you have an external tire carrier, you will need to open it first.)
There's an access panel on the inside of the tailgate. Take that off and spray some lubricant on the hinge points of the window. Lubricate the weatherstriping with some silicone spray. have someone operate the window with the key in the tailgate while you try to lower the window by hand from the access panel opening.
I stand corrected. The tailgate latches are required to be closed to operate the window. I remember having to close those with the tailgate down in order to raise the window.
get someone to hold the switch on the dash for you and see if its drawing battery power (look at the battery light on the dash and see if it goes towards the low side).
if it does that, take the access panel off and hit the motor with a hammer lightly while someone is holding the switch on the dash.
or you can take the electrical plug off the motor and put battery power to it. then try reversing the wires. if that doesn't do it, you probably have a bad motor or its rusted solid somewhere.
