so is there a way to test without pulling head off first?.. on cylinder 6 i pulled the rockers and i can shake around the upper valve spring.. i shouldnt be able to do that right? just to refresh myself the bigger valve is the exhaust valve right?
What do you mean by upper valve spring? You can move the valve spring retainer?! Nope, shouldn't be able too. You may have some serious damage. Bite the bullet and pull the head. Sounds like you have a broken valve. Way more than you bargained for.
The intake valve is the bigger one on 400's. The valves are fairly closely alligned with the ports.
The valve order on left side heads on 400's is E I E I E I E I, starting from the front.
i would mean the intake on the 6th cylinder then by the upper one lol.. and i mean i can like shake the spring itself.. like there is play.. im gonna pull the head.. just gotta wait on the funds to get a new gasket and gonna probaly go through the other head b4 i put it on.. Thanks all i will update when i get the head off..
