360 setup
It sounds real good, starts on a dime, runs real strong. The pic of my engine is lame to what I have detailed now. Here is my list.
Shaved exhaust manifolds and hogged out. Shaved heads the rest was in excellent condition, replaced the rocker shafts and arms. Springs good. Cleaned intake and rebuilt carb. Pulled and mic'ed the cam, good but found it to be a RV grind, also good, lifters looked new, Old time set was retarded and stretched, replace with Cloyes straight up set, replaced diz with stock unit, pulled pan and inspected the bottom and all looked good. Replaced the pump and gaskets all around. Rewired the choke for a electronic unit. Rewired the ignition wire to a new ballast resistor and installed a new after M guages set. restored all the stock air horn goodies added a cold air and K&N. New plugs wires cap, new water pump, new radiator, new battery. Paint all around, new hoses, new belts, new motor mounts, Dual exhaust.
Paid 500 spent 1500 2000 total. At final tune I have over 150 comp on every hole, runs 17 inches vac at idle, I get a final 20# oil pressure at hot idle, runs cool, no hessitation and goes like crazy for a 360.
Love these trucks. Oh and installed a remote filter for a total of 7.5 quarts and installed a on board battery tender, just plug er in. Not sure what your wanting to do but this truck is going to start this winter and run cool next summer. Start every time and get decent gas mileage. Not a super rocket but sounds real good and goes real good. like I said earlier depends on what you want. I shopped Auto zone, Schucks, NAPA, E-bay and a couple of local shops. It took me about a month.
One last thing if you were confused the earlier pic was just before I tore it all apart again. Just had to know if it was still a good engine. Now I have confidence.
