Unhappy 351w trys to starte

i have a ford ranger that i put a 351 windser in. it has a lunati cam that requires a 302 firing order, it has a holly 650 with vacume secondarys that i just rebuilt and tested on my brothers car. my distributer is a electronic one similer to a duraspark II. and along with it is the modual with the green tab on it. a few weeks ago it was runing fine. like a bat out of hell. to be exact! but then all of a sudden it had a miss fire or somthing then started runing real ruff. then the next day wouldnt start. i had the modual tested it was bad suposadly and i replaced it and it still didnt work. so i replaced the distributer cause it was under warrenty so what the heck right. still no go. i have a short in the system so i thought that might be it. so i disconected everything but what i need to run the engine alone. so today my bro and I where trying to starte it and it started firing like it was about to start and when i stoped cranking the starter the engine stoped firing as well. this always happens now.. so if u can please help.

ok, on the module, ther are 2 wires going in and 3 coming out, (this is from memory) there is a white wire and a red/blue, the red/blue supplies power to the module while cranking, and the white supplies power to the module while the key is on, the other three, purple, orange and black run from your dist. to your module, the purple and orange are signal, and the black is a ground, so from the sounds of it, you are getting power during the cranking mode, and none during run, so, you might have the 2 (white, and red/blue) mixed up

on my old modual the red was the power and the white was the timeing retard during cranking wire. so i wired this one the same, but just for the sake of it i wired it like u sed and still nothing. just the same firing off of a few cylinders

I would almost start checking the engine internally, I'm thinking that there is somthing more seriuosly wrong with the engine then somthing electrical

Check for a bad ground. Are you sure it's electrical and not fuel? I would at least check the fuel pressure at the carb.
