Probably won't see anything close to 80 without a shim.

i changed the filter and cleaned the screen-i thought i solved the problem, no problems for about 2 days, and sure enough it started to act up again!

i'll give you another hint-its only done it twice and both times when i put it in drive it like jumed from first to second gear. not much but enough to feel it. again the CEL light would come on for a few min then shut off. during those few min. it would idle funny!

Leaking?

If the fuel cap is leaking it will surge a bit as it leaks off pressure. I had a slight tweak in the filter cap O ring and it did not show a leak at idle. I kept seeing a wet spot of fuel on the left valve cover. The little leak was squirting now and then, kinda like little pee stream, just pissing on out and then stop.

the engine has NO WAY of knowing if it has fuel pressure or not, even with no fuel pressure they will run, but surge badly and stall when you lift the throttle.

you have another issue. please refresh me on the symptoms again, I didnt read all three pages again.

still having the same issue,for the first time it stalled today when i put it in drive but no CEL light came on.

have you looked at the shift indicator thing on the trans, the technical term evades me right now. on the side of the trans where the shift lickage hooks up, it lets the truck start if its in N or P.
