I have a 2000 f150 with 137000 miles. Just replaced the plugs and had to replace one of the "cop's" as well. My big problem is that I have a water leak. When looking at the motor it is coming from the water outlet tube that is attached to both sides of the block, it is coming from the passenger side. Seems as though water is coming from there and filling the spark plug hole causing a short to the cop giving me a misfire. I have attempted to take the outlet tube off, however, on the passenger side there is a bolt that is going up and threads into the outlet tube. It seems as though the bolt goes through the head. I found two on the same side that go up, but the third I cannot find where it comes from. I have already taken off the valve cover, definitely not in there. Does anyone know where this bolt is coming from????? Can't find anything in the repair manual or online! Please Help!!!!!!
thanks so much for the help!!!!! went and got the head repair this morning, hopefully that will slow it down for a while till i can get to it. thanks again for the help, i appreciate it!
depending on which one you buy, you may need to drain all the antifreeze and use just plain water. they say to idle, but you might want to drive 3-4 miles at 40 mph to get the thermostat to open, then park and let it idle. After the system builds up pressure, shut off motor and let it cool. The pressure in the system helps push the sealer into crack in the gasket or head that may have cylinder pressure while running. If you problem is only the intake water gasket, you can see that visually, It should stop leaking after driving 4 miles and then idle for 5 minutes.
