I got 2 codes that came up and on my friends Bully Dog Tuner they were P06031CMKAM(DL) & P1000ABDRESET and from what I can tell these codes are not very signifficant as they will come up when I disconnected the batteries to install my gauges. So I cleared them.2 days later the codes came up again and I took the 2004 F350 to the dealer and they say the turbo is fried. My question is How did they come to this conclusion? My boost gauge seems to work and the power is still there.I have only had the truck 3 weeks from the same dealer. They say I have to cover the cost.Any help would be most grateful thanks.
Neither of those codes indicate any kind of turbo failure. I'd be up someone's rear end and demand to know how they came to that conclusion. Sounds to me that they already knew the turbo was fried previously, maybe? The P0603 and the P1000 basically mean that someone unhooked the batteries and cleared the keep alive memory.
The codes that I got were from a Bully dog programmer ,so I don,t know if its reading all the trouble codes. The dealer said it was sticking when it was being diagnosed. They have agreed to pay 67% of the cost.I guess I have no choice and deal with it after because if I upset them I may get stuck with the whole bill
So it cost me $920.00 1/3, the dealer said they will pay the other 2/3, they said the turbo was sticking a P0299 code.what this had to do with the codes I got from the tuner I have no idea maybe I should get a good ob2 reader. The bill shows internal costs but only shows the amount billed to me.go figure? I priced a turbo from another dealer and it was 2200.00 plus 300 core exchange plus tax plus install .Sorry Canadian Dollars.I don't feel or hear any change. Not being a tech. I am at the mercy of the dealer.I will go looking for a good mechanic here and will keep looking on this site which has been a great help on everything related to my truck.THANKS GUYS
Ask the dealer for some vaseline with that repair. First, they can NOT tell if you need a turbo for sticking without taking the turbo off, and completely apart. It can usually be cleaned, and lubed as long as the unison ring is in one piece, and the slots arent egg shaped.. Second, if they replaced JUST the center section, as they should have, if in fact the turbo was junk, you paid the whole bill. You dont have to replace the whole turbo, just the center section. FYI
