What needs to be done?

Hi
I just bought an 04 6.0L in May. I know that the 6.0's need some upgrading. I am thinking about putting on the Banks Six Gun Power kit. I know about the head stud problem should I upgrade gaskets also and what other things would need to be done with the truck for it to run well without any disasters.

1. Don't get the Banks Power system. The Six Gun Module is horrible for our engines as it does not properly tune the trucks ECM and TCM. Most here(including myself) would recommend a custom tuner as that would enable the most to be had out of your truck based on your particular style and what's on the truck(strategy, any other performance mods(injectors, turbos) etc). If you want I can go into great detail about why you shouldn't take a chance with Banks, Edge, Bullydog etc and that you should get something along the lines of the Spartan Phalanx tuner or SCT(only get the X3 in my opinion).

2. Technically speaking it's a head bolt problem. You want to replace the head bolts with studs. I wouldn't bother upgrading the gaskets unless you plan on running more aggressive modifications then what you see in my siggy as I'm running stock gaskets and haven't had any issues the two years that I've been running the more aggressive performance mods.

Even River City is also getting some good buzz on their tuning.

Before doing any mods, it might be a good idea to pull and oasis report (if you haven't already) and check out the engine's history. Coolant bypass kit is a good reliabilty mod to clean the cooling system. Some gauges to monitor what's going on if your looking at tuners.
