DP vs TDP

I hate to do this, but I have read so much about the DP f5 chip and the TDP 6position chip, and Im getting down to the time where I need to get one ordered so I can have it and installed by the 24th; I need to know what the pros and cons are to them.

I like how they both can be switched "on the fly"
I like how the DP is pretty much free to get updates and reorder the tunes
I like how the TDP has the exhaust brake feature in the tow setting

The dp is cheaper I think, but its only 50 dollars cheaper the way I want it. I just can not decide, and need help please.

You have it backwards -- Tony's (TDP) has the free updates. DP has the decel tunes. Keep in mind that if you ever upgrade your turbo (like I have), the EBPV goes away thus making that decel tune useless.

Joe,

He has an auto so the Decel tune would not be entirely useless to him. Jody adds tranny saving strategies so the trans will not get injured during the declines.

We only do free updates to your existing tunes. If you make changes to your truck that requires new tunes we do charge a small fee for Jody to make those changes. With the F6 you do not need to return your chip for updates or remove it from you truck.

Give us a shout. We'll be glad to help you with your tuning needs.

Best way to decide would be to ride/ drive with the two and see what you like. There really isn't anything that can be said to compare the two over the internet. If you come down to Megawatts injector install on October 17th I am sure you could get some seat time.

Thanks for the info. I have a TransGo Tugger installed which doubles the holding pressures on the clutches when you manually downshift. Sounds like he's doing in tuning what the Tugger does in hardware...

I will give him seat time before and after the install. I will have the F5 before and the F6 after.

One thing I absolutely love about the DP is the "free" engine kill. By that I mean, if you take the "fob" off the end of the cable, your truck WILL NOT START. I used this "feature" when I took mine in to downtown Denver several times.

yes, I am ALWAYS paranoid about my truck being stolen.

X2, at least on the F5 part, I'd be happy to give up some seat time. At least be able to see the HUGE difference between stock and a couple of Jody's little works of art.

If someone in mass has a wildman tune in their truck then I'll try to make the time to check it out. My broher lives in Boston and I'll be there this weekend. I'll have some time friday and Sunday I believe. It's kinda short notice though because I wanted a new chip before I went on my 1000 mile trip on the 24th.

As far as my mistake on he towing decel tunes. I was pretty sure the dp had a selectable decel tune. And the tdp I thought was programmed to lock converter and downshift the trans while you decelerating or something similar.

Thanks for the info guys. It's very helpful on such short notice.

Or you could do an FU chip from PowerHungryPerformance and have 18 tunes you can play with any time at no additional cost.

I should have mentioned before that I have personal experiance with the DP tuner.
My brother has the F6 chip and has the 60tow, and 80econ, and I really like the DP tuner. I thought I was happy with my bullydog powerpup until I drove my brothers truck and had way more power, and lots better shifting. Fuel economy is about the same, but thats fine.

What does the FU chip look like? I like the F5 because it is push button. I like the F6 because I don't have to take it out of the truck for updates.

i just ordered the f5 a couple hours ago. the f5 is cheaper, also has the eb for towing, the only down fall is i cant try new updates with downloading them from the computer. but to tell you the truth even though i wanted the f6 i really cant afford it right now with having no job. but spending the money wasnt that bad since the wife was a sweet heart and seemed very knowledgeable on her husband and her products.

JR --> I've had both DP and Tony's tunes. I am running Tony tunes now, and honestly, I like them a little better. Kind of hard to put a finger on it, and in all fairness, I live a few miles from him, so when I got mine, we tried out a bunch of different ones until we were both happy. I think anyone that get's live tuned is much happier regardless of who does it.
