Hey Barney,

How do you like the FU (free upgrades) chip & chip burner from PHP? User friendly?

This is interesting -------

From PHP's Website:

http://dygytalworld.ehost-services13...p_Package.html

"If you have a stock or mildly modded 7.3L PSD, the F.U. Chip (that's Free Updates!) may be what you've been looking for!
For only $495, you will receive a blank 6-position chip and a chip burner, but that's just the beginning! You will also have unlimited access to EVERY PHP calibration available for your truck (15 - 20 calibrations, depending on your PCM code) -- all the funky calibrations as well as all the standard performance levels -- using our Phoenix Flash™ Software.

The best part? You can update your chip FOR FREE as many times as you'd like. Not only can you try every single file we have... you can also customize your chip as often as you want. Going on a long trip cross country? Great! Download Fuel-Sipper™, Anti-Theft, Stock, 80hp, 100hp, and 120hp off our server. Towing a boat through the mountains? Super! Dump the 100hp and 120hp and reburn the 25hp and 40hp tunes onto your chip. Thought you'd use SmokeShow™ but realize that you haven't touched it in six months? No problem! Reprogram another calibration onto that level.

This product will also be ideal for customers who plan on adding performance injectors, "big-oil" HPOP systems, or other heavy mods sometime down the road. All you have to do is contact us with your modifications, Bill can write your new custom files (currently $30 each), and you'll be able to download them using Phoenix Flash!"

Amazing how more products keep coming out for the 7.3L still.

Any chance DP-Tuner will warranty the leak and get me a set of Up-Pipes?

This is from the programming help page on DP's site.
preset parameters in the PCM are relaxed so the SES light is not tripped under normal driving conditions.

I can tell you on my truck that I still need a OBA. Jody live tuned my truck and did all the tunes as 'no codes' tunes. At the time I had a OBA on. When I got home I took it off, and instantly set a CEL after hitting 25# of boost and it did it several times. So I put it back on and hasn't happened since.

Yes.

I will be modifying the black plastic box so the chip can be removed with the case still mounted.

Awesome, Jason! Please take a picture of it and e-mail it to us. I'm curious to see what you do!

We have a couple of projects in the works which would eliminate the need to remove the chip to reprogram it. Just a matter of Bill finding the time to work on it.

Thanks Huck,

When I read this on DP's website I was curious as to what constitutes "normal Driving" and under what conditions will the CEL light come on using the "no code tunes" - since alot of us here aren't "normal"......

Joe,

Are you using anything to hold the chip in? I'm going to use a dremel tool and try for some straight cuts I wish I'd had time to do it last time I had it out. But with PHP coming through for me right before I went on vacation there just wasn't time for it with all the packing and stuff going on.

I did the same cut on the plastic. I hold it in with duct tape. HOWEVER, I do put sponge between tape and chip

That is exactly what I was thinking. Cut out a piece the size of the opening to keep the bad stuff out.
