im wanting to put an aftermarket tach (autometer or something) in my 1995 Ford F-150 5.0L/302. my dash doesn't have a tach in it and the engine might be a mustang 302. the ignition module isn't on the distributer dispite the fact that its MAP
I just put a tach in my truck and the green wire goes to the neg wire on your coil, the white is for the light in the tach, i ran it with the power wire to have the light on all the time, then obviously you have the red and black wires for power and ground.
you will have to use a test light to see, unplug the coil and see which wire is hot, my truck had a red and a brownish colored wire going into the coil, the brown one was neg on mine, but the wiring may be different on yours
There is also an article/write-up here on the forum on how to swap in an OEM guage cluster tach...
Something to think about...

I just did exactly that. Picked up the instrument cluster at the junkyard for $22. Swapped the parts around and everything works great. Much better than aftermarket which is what is on my 90. The 93 looks a lot better with the factory tach.
