Thanks to everyone for all your help! I took a few pictures with my phone to give you an idea of what my truck looks like up tothis point. I'll post some more when I have time to take some pics with a real camera (and I have time to wash her a bit):
Very nice, Macgiobuin!
My '65s are the same color!
When you've got an extra hour or so, I'd suggest you paint your tailgate FORD letters white. I just painted mine and it REALLY sets it off nicely - I wish I'd of done it sooner. I just scuffed the blue paint on the raised letters with a scotchbrite pad, then applied two coats of white with a small brush. It looks GREAT to me!
Looks sharp; paint matches to 50 sticker as well. like the rim combo, looks like 67-72 hupcaps. You got a great ride going. I reomve the old dash pad and just go without. Those pads are high dollar in my book.
Thanks, everyone. I like the idea of painting the "FORD" on the tailgate...I've seen letter sets for the tailgate, but they are usually listed as "67-69" so I've not purchased them. Anyone ever use the letter sets (adhesives, I'm guessing)? Also, did you paint the raised "oval" around the letters on the tailgate, or just the letters? What kind of paint is recommended?
I also want to get the wheels painted white, but that has been quoted as "expensive" to do. What do y'all think about using POR or something like it in white? I used the black POR on the wheel wells/engine compartment, and it worked pretty good. I'll post some engine pics in my photo album after the rain stops. (BTW, I just uploaded other pictures into an album in that thread.)
Long-winded (fingered?) tonight---last point: I probably should removed the cracked dash pad, but I like how it looks WITH a pad, and can't afford a new/used one at this point. Is the paint "rough" underneath the pads, or did Ford paint the dash like a non-padded one and then glue the pad over the good paint?

Macgiobuin,
I believe your tailgate IS a '67 style tailgate, so those letter sets would work.
Nevertheless, painting the raised letters isn't hard either. I just painted the raised flat portion, not the angled "shoreline" to the bed. In fact, if I would have had one, I would have used a small roller, rather than a small brush. After I scuffed the blue paint with the Scotchbrite pad, I used oil-based, Rustoleum Gloss White. The next day I put on a second coat - one coat isn't enough to look good. The second coat covered any blue peeking through the brush marks.

Thanks again, everyone! I might just try the painting. I'm still a bit hesitant to take the dash pad off...I'm afraid there's not going to any paint under there.
"Did you notice in the first pic that your house is leaning?"
You'd think I lived in the hills of Tennessee or somethin'...
THe dash will be panited. My son pull the pad off his 66, and we stertched black vinyl over the dash, no pad, and put the trim back in place. Looks real good.

had to wash some of the glue off the dash took about 45 minutes to recover without the padding
