Removing My Computer?!

Hey Guys! My truck is a 1987,88,89,90, hell its a whole bunch of years smashed together.

Just did a lot of searching, but with little results. I want to completely remove my ECU, as I don't think I need it anymore, or at least I don't think I do.

I have gone the way of the KISS philosophy (Keep It Simple Stupid) and removed all EFI related nonsense I didn't use. I run Mechanical Gauges & Propane! I have, however, kept my A/C, Cruise control (Speed Control) and ABS.

My question is... if I remove the computer, will it affect any of these systems? I know A/C is stand alone but I do not know about the other 2 systems. Please advise!

Oh, and if I do remove it, where can I get a cover for the opening in the firewall? Thanks.

I believe the cruise is a stand alone system but the ABS I am not entirely positive about it being stand alone as well. Why did you keep the RABS it is an iffy system at best?

Yeah... it works but the light is always on.

I'll keep it for now until I upgrade to rear discs and hydroboost.

If I lose it, no big deal.

The RABS is stand alone. If you have an E4OD trans then you need the computer.

Nope... ZF 5 speed! Now can I find a cover anywhere or will I have to fab one up?

Some of the `87 model trucks were carb so may have a blanking plate also the diesels with C6 trans up to `941/2 did not have a computer so may also have a blanking plate.

If your ABS light is on it is not working.

Very likely it's not working correctly... I'll diagnose it another day.
