I would say the presence of roller bearings and metal
shavings in the pan would indicate mechanical failure.


I put it in with my original TC took it for a test drive

With junk found in the pan, reusing that TC was not the best of ideas.

What lazy k suggested about covers it.

I've been pricing converters, Do I want a high stall or low stall

This is my daily driver, I sometime pull our boy scout troop trailer.

A cracked flex plate will make a ringing sproing type noise @ start up - hard to describe unless you've heard 1. Noise will be loudest when the starter dis-engages.

HELP NEEDED BADLY

Ok I pulled the tranny again.

I got a new TC and a New fly wheel.
Installed and still have vibration. I am out of money and time, my
father in law has recalled his "loaner car"

I have never done this before, is there something I could be doing wrong
that is not obvious to me?

Vibration is constant but worse when in gear and stopped.

Please help

Put it up on jackstands and put it in drive and see if you can figure out where the vibration is coming from. It could be an out of balance driveshaft, it doesn't necessarily have to do with the transmission swap (although to be honest, it seems likely). But I don't know offhand what you could have done that would allow you to drive the truck around but have a bad vibration.

Where did you get the converter and flywheel from? Are you sure you're using the right imbalance on the flywheel?
