I have an 86 F150...Im planning on doin a lil bit of a restoration. But my question is im gonna do some work to the 5.0 it has, I was thinking of going with something similar of an early 90s mustang 5.0, so what tranny should I go for? for overall performance??? the truck has a A4LD now but I also have a C-6 in my garage. So what do yall think?? Any other suggestions are welcome???
A4LD in an F150? Didn't know that, thought they were Ranger/Aerostar etc.
If you are going to repower with an '88-'93 Mustang 5.0, find one with the automatic attached. It will be an AOD, and the '88-'93 AOD from behind a V8 is the best one offered from the factory. You can beef it up on top of that.
Otherwise, if you are going to go 3 speed, use the C4. Smaller, lighter, uses less power, strong enough for your application.
