The way I did mine was: I dropped the steering column inside the cab by removing the 2 bolts that hold it up to the dash; you should probably disconnect the shift linkage from the steering column under the hood (close to the firewall) - I forgot to do that on mine but got the job done anyway; disconnect the wiring harness from the steering column under the dash; remove the 2 bolts on the rag joint that tighten it down to the 2 shafts; pull the steering column into the cab of the truck to separate things and give you enough room to pull the old rag joint and put the new one in; reinstall in reverse order...
All finished. Not too bad of a job at all. Nice tight steering feel now. Only problem is that the Dorman replacement steering coupler makes no provision for the horn ground. How have folks fixed this. I'm guessing just run a ring terminal crimped w/14 gauge wire on one of the two connector bolts, but the other end of the wire is a more difficult choice. Anyone have to rig one of these??
