Original Price

Hi, I'm researching a story where one of the characters loves Ford trucks. I need to know how much a 1971 F-100 (say, 3-in-a-tree, 300 ci straight six) cost in Canada in 1971. The character uses her Ford to haul horses and hay, generally, it's a farm vehicle.

I appreciate any help. TIA.

Gord

While I was at the library a while back, I was reading about the history of Ford trucks, and I think something like that was around $2200-2400, depending on trim level.

Thank you!

Excellent. Thank you. :-) I seldom use the library any more. I think that's a mistake.

According to my handy Ford book, both a "Custom" (base-model) Flareside and Styleside would cost $2810.24 USD in 1971. Four-wheel drive models were $3374.74 USD. In 1971, the 300 was an option that cost $90.10 USD. A three-speed transmission with overdrive was $125.50 USD. I don't know the exchange rate between Canada and the US in the early 70s, but if you can figure it out, you should be good to go
