Pyro position

Can I drill and tap my exhaust manifold with it still on the engine? I read somewhere that if you drill it with the motor idling it will blow out the filings. Last thing I need is metal filings stuffing up my turbo . Also how close to head or best position suggestions or even better some photos. Currently my pyro is after the turbo and I tow fairly often so thought I might move it for more accurate readings.

You can do this with the manifold in the truck. If you pick the right angle, there is enough room to get a drill on the manifold.

I pulled the cross-over pipe when I drilled the driver side manifold. I had the truck off when I drilled, and vacuumed out the shavings with the shop vac. Then I ran the truck with the cross-over pipe off to blow out what ever shavings were left.

I put mine in the driver side manifold, right at the start of the collector on the bottom side of the manifold.

It was a pretty easy job. half hour to an hour at most.
