I am replacing my worn out autolite 2100 with a Holley 4160 600cfm. I would like to know what intake manifold would be best to use. I like the Weiand Stealth but unsure if it is the right one to use vs. the edelbrock performer. any suggestions will be appreciated.
The engine is a 1970 302 stock except for headers and an open air filter. Auto trans too.
What are the advantages and disadvantages of having the 'rear water crossover' vs. Not having it.. (Weiand 8020 vs. Weiand 8124)
what are the advantages and disavantages of having a 'high rise' vs. a 'low rise' manifold ? (8020 vs. 8124)
Thanks all..
Going on a stock + headers & open air filter 1968 302/289 in a 1970 F100.. Original engine as far as the paperwork and id plates go for the truck..
The rear crossover has something to do with cold weather drive-ability I think. It supplies some heat to the carb or so I've been told. With or without is not a big issue as far as I know. Edelbrock's don't have them.
The only reason I could see to go with the 8124 is if you had hood clearance issues or just wanted a more stock look. While they don't show a difference in the stats, higher is better as it will give you a teeny bit more velocity and better flow.
FWIW- I have heard that the Weiand's are hands down better than the Edelbrock's, but I can't remember which intakes that were compared. In other words, if they were single planes, then that info means nothing.

Thank you very much for the info. I believe I will stick with my first thought of the Stealth 8020..
Thanks again..
I was just offered a trade -- My freshly rebuilt 600cfm Holley 4160 for a freshly rebuilt 500cfm Holley 2300...
I have a 2bbl intake still on my truck, I was going to spend the $175 for a new 4bbl intake but by doing this trade I could not spend a dime...
Any thoughts on if I am being taken on the trade, is the 2300 worth a crap, show performance suffer?
I am kind of leaning to not making the deal. Let me know your thoughts please..
Nah,I wouldn't trade.You'd get better mileage w/ the 4v carb,and better power when you need or want it.I have a 500 cfm on my '73 f100,and it's only ok.

That's what I was thinking but I would save a few hundred in parts and a Saturday afternoon by just swapping carbs, I would probably spend it later anyway.. Guess I could put an adapter plate to run a 4v on a 2v intake.. anyone ever use one of these?
Run the 500 2bbl if you don't want to get a 4bbl manifold. 4bbl on a 2bbl manifold is a waste.
The 500 cfm 2bbl needs to be fiddled with, as the accelerator pumps are often overkill for a smaller engine.
I ran one for a short time on a 289, but then went to a Motorcraft 2bbl off a 390 that worked better and didn't bog the motor when I nailed it. (bog for a second then take off with a puff of black smoke and a chirp from the tires....)
