95 7.3 dually auto 223k, was coming home from work, bout 1 hr commute, when I got into town the truck started shifting hard, both up and down shifts. I have noticed a small leak coming from the diff which I've been meaning to ge to. could low diff oil cause that? or Am I looking at a tranny problem
Tranny for sure...not the rear diff. Was your OD light in the end of the shifter flashing.
If so, get it scanned for codes...The PCM/TCM raises the pressures in the trans to protect the clutches when it senses slippage or too much heat... making the shifts feel very hard.
OMG! the things you learn here! flushed fluid, fluid dirty but not burnt, no metal in the pan, will try vss and btw my tail light happens to be hangin down from the wires, will try all that, thanks! will keep you posted
Took out the VSS, capped the bumper wires reset the computer, drove the truck, shifted hard a couple of times and then it smoothed out!!!!!!!!! thanks so much to all
