k ill get a pic tomorrow morning and add it to my album redneck 1465
also, it depends on max spring squat at full load. my f150 has overload springs so it just BARELY clears with full load
My knowledge is pretty much what comes into the shop, so i have to say the 8 lug rims are kinda the same as long as the bolt pattern is 8-165.1(8 lugs 165.1mm spacing) Dana 70 hubs are the same as dana 60's, same as a sterling 10.25, 10.35 and i think AAM since dodge and chevy have run that axle. please correct me if im wrong, ill surely appreciate it
greyghost85, tire size dosent effect rim dimensions(i.e. rim width, offset, rim diameter) so id assume you can go as big as any other f250/f350. I would look at 295/75-16 BFG, its roughly a 33X11.5-16, slightly taller than what im running though its a load range D tire, it might work for what your thinkin. TBH id spend some time at the tire shop and get some sizes and recommendations
your correct about not having the fenders to go as big as you want, but the offset of the wheels might limit you to a narrower tire (not by much). If your just doing the rear, take a tape measure and go from about 1/2" from the frame to wherever you want the tire to end. i know trucks can fit a 12.50 wide tire with a huge amount positive offset, but the fronts are gonna rub BAD. Go to the BFGoodrich website and look at the all terrain T/A size and specs chart, it puts metric dimensions into inches, so its a pretty handy page for reference. Hard to tell you a good ballpark, i dont own a flatbed. my next project might be tho
kuskoal, every time i click your photobucket, i get a square that sez mor nev, or something. i havent been brave enuff to click on to that( it's girlfriends computer, and she uses it for work). anyway, i have always had 4x4 but have downgraded(?) to 4x2. but knowing me, i'll get into some funky places, and will need some traction. soooo, i once had a truck w/detroit locker that was quite impressive. i thot, locker plus gia-normous rears mite get me thru. fronts would have to be a compromise, but at least wide enuff to float thru mud, and not dig in.
hey its all good on the nor nev pic, its just a clothing company my friend started. no viruses, just a pic
If your looking at going through mud (i hope not really deep slop) you'd be fine with a 33X12.50 equivalent i hope. wide enough to give a big pad but short enough to fit under the front wheel well.
Also for redneck1465 those pics of my coil inserts are up in my albums, if your cruising this particular thread
what triggered all this, is...i wuz thinkin about duals. i have seen tractor trailer rigs that have gone from 18 wheels to ten. they just went with really wides. and i thot, hey, i could go in that direction, instead. price may be a factor, as well as speedometer probs.
dually wheels are most of the time better in all situations imho. extra load carrying ability, added traction, better tire wear, i like em!
I know what your talkin about the BFT (big f***in tire) on semi trucks and trailers. Thats a way to increase gas mileage on over the road trucks, and its working phenominally. With a wider tire you MUST keep alignment, tire pressure and weight equal or close enough or you might wear the inside, outside, one side or create too much heat. Dually wheels can get pretty agressive in size, too. a 265-75-16 is the biggest tire you can have put on a stock dually wheel without rubbing, im pretty sure, and it looks tough! Also wider tires are much more expensive. Lets say this, I spent $100 a tire on a load range E yokohama Geolandar for my brothers SRW f250 (265/75-16) and i spend over $150 a tire for a load range C 32X11.50-15 BFG. Wheres the savings? my BFG's are gonna wear faster than the yokohamas with the bigger pad and resistance, i cant use my truck to full potential, but i paid more for a name. I'm gonna leave it at that
If you have any more questions send me a PM and i can help you out, i feel we have hijacked this thread
you can do a body lift and go as big as you want, repectfully i wouldn't cause it can put strain on a 2wd. and your ball joints. but if you want the four wheel drive look without eating a whole in your pocket for gas, try 265/75/15 its the same "size" tallness as a 31x10.5x15 but not as wide and will still give you a decent ride as well as gas mileage.
john
The ultimate highway ride. You'll have to spot weld another 1/8 inch or so onto the right side stopper to run these tires, but if you're runnin mostly on the highway, well worth it. Not for the faint of heart (inline 6ers). The 460 under this hood doesn't care what size tires you put on.
For now, im just gonna get coil spacers. but eventually i will get a suspension lift. I'm kinda on a budget as far as wheels go, but i'm lookin wantin black with a chrome lip. i've found some Helo Series HE825 that i'm really wantin so i may get those with 31's
