Hey yall, I'm tryin to decide if I should get a 1.5-2" levelin kit on my ol' 82 F150. Anybody know how these kits do on older trucks and any tips in decidin? I just got done puttin new ball joints on, got new tires and an alignment. Lookin into gettin some front shocks and really just want my baby level. I hate that topdown look
How did that ball joint project go? Did you do any surrounding parts? How long did it take? I need to do that + TTB pivot + whatever to my 83 F350 4x4 one of these days, that truck was my only project at one time.
Can't answer any leveling-kit questions, sorry, was only curious.
BTW you might edit your post (use the Advanced editor) and add something more descriptive to the title to attract people who would know about leveling kits, might get you more answers on that.
I had a shop do it because I've been workin alot this summer to help a bit with college, but from what he told me it was some tough stuff. The parts were old and kinda rusted which took a bit more work than expected. Alot of the bolts had alot of problems comin off, some had to be welded off. Cant really give you an estimate on the time because I had new leaf springs put in on the back which took some time trying to find
Yep, them ball joint bolts are rusted in there good. I took a sledge hammer to mine. It also took awhile to figure out how to use the ball joint tool from the box store (and which direction to push, etc). All-in-all, it probably took me 8 hours (a couple evenings) to do both sides.
