Are these chromed ones any goo d they offer for $16? I dunno what a OEM replacement costs. It seems like most go bad from not being greased on the sliders. I had to get a junkyard gate and the latch was gone. My existing one is diamond-ed out of whack.
Got a junkyard one for $5 anyhow. Seems I need to buy new tailgate cables though. Every one was snapped. Is there an 'easy' adaption for the folding arm gate retainers from the pre-80 trucks?
My understanding is that for the most part it is a bolt on swap. My cables ket breaking, so I got fed up and welded chain in the place of the cable, no more problems!
They fit just fine. I got my chain from the hardware store, used the type that have twists to keep it largely flat rather than twist like the regular chain does.
