I want to put the longer water pump like out of an earlier 5.0 mustang but it appears the timing chain cover and pump is different. Do you know if there is a Explorer style pump w the longer housing?
First thing we should establish is the length of the existing pump shaft I guess? Take a pic or measure it and I'll compare it to the truck pumps I have. If thay are the same or close and you want one that's quite a bit longer then you may have to change the pump and water cover to the old mustang style.. which will bolt on no problem.
Paul,
Two things I didn't mention are the explorer's wp base and pulley hub are odd. The hub has a threaded stud for the fan and the pulley bolt circle is larger.
I went on rockauto.com were they show pictures of their parts.
All the trucks that still had 5.0's in the 90's had the traditional wp base but the 94, 95 mustang had the explorer base with a normal pulley / fan hub so if anything I would just have run a spacer behind the pulley.
