I'll catch heat for this post, but it's a pet peeve. Why so many threads unrelated to an automotive website? Should be an off-topic forum. OK, rant is over.
Kind of cool I think. What better way to get advise on things that maybe you know about or don't know about from "proven" people with knowledge and brains and just common courtesy then form the the fine people here at FTE!! I certainly do and I think other people on this site will concur! Ok "rant" over LOL
All the extra forums are because as this site grew, it became more than an automotive site, it became a community. Now, I suppose we could go with one forum just labeled "stuff", but then things get lost in the mix. People who have trucks usually have garages, and also some sort of place to live, and trailers to pull, and other vehicles to ask questions about, and so on. I think it all fits together quite well.
I kind of like it, there is a lot of knowledge out there and most of it is proven if not all, what a better place to find advice on a whole spectrum of topics.
Since my only Ford these days is my old RV, I hang out a lot in the general area.
(I still browse some of the truck areas, and even comment on those rare occasions when I know something).
I wish that other sites like allpar would have a general section. I've found out more around here than I would have ever imagined possible. Not to mention the 'adult' behavior ( meaning thoughtful and polite, not X- rated )

Good explaination! I can live with that. I like this site due to specific tech sections. I just look forward to reading this section for auto tools, equipment, things to make my hobby easier and have better results.
