Looking to swap out my aftermarket bucket seats (79 F-150 Ranger XLT) for a relatively-period-correct bench seat. Found this bench seat out of a 76 F-150 Supercab: http://huntsville.craigslist.org/pts/1357103496.html
Two questions:
1. I'd imagine it should, but would this bench bolt-in to my 79?
2. - I wouldn't pay $100 for it - but I usually have more seats than I ever want around here. The folding supercab seats are harder to find than the standard bench, but I'm not sure it;s worth $100. Price depends on your area and how much YOU want to pay for it. Do YOU think it's worth the $100. If so - buy it. If you don't need a folding seat like that then you can probably find a standard bench at a junk yard for far less.
Either way you will still probably have to drop some decent $$ into getting whatever seat you buy recovered
Quite a few of the seats from different years will bolt in. The 79 should bolt right up. I used a seat out of a mid 90 vintage to replace the bench in my 76. I just kept my slider brackets, and bolted the new seat right up to it. I paid $25 for it off ebay, and it was in perfect condition. Keep you eyes open and like a few above have said, I think you can find a much better deal.
I just threw a seat that looks identical to that one on craigslist into a 95 flareside 30 minutes ago. It is a clunker trade in and I wanted the bench seat with the lumbar, armrest, and drink holders. It was a direct swap out. I did not even swap the tracks.
Total cost: FREE.
I agree, unless you REALLY want that type of seat I wouldn't pay $100 for it. If it was in MUCH better condition, maybe, but that things going to need a lot of money to make it presentable.
I need a seat too, or a seat cover. I just checked out prices for " Saddle Blanket" style, you know the western, American Indian, two tone herringbone looking cover, and it's $118 for the full custom fit version. Not too bad.
Full custom genuine sheepskin is almost $500. Nice, but it's hard for me to justify.
Read permalink 6. I know from 1961 to 1996.
Some of the earlier models from 72 down may need the seat tracks swapped. They unbolt from the old seat and bolt right in to the newer seat up to 1996.
i will give you the seat and seat cover for free out of my truck if you wanna trade for the buckets...it dont fold like that, but i am scrappin my truck if you can find a way to come get it it's yours
