Hi, I need to buy a carpet for my 76 F-100 truck, I was looking at the molded carpet from LMC Truck, has anyone bought the carpet from LMC, or do you reccomend a carpet from another site. Also, how difficult is to install a molded carpet.
I just installed mine about 2 weeks ago in my crew cab. I purchased through stockinteriors.com. They have excellent quality, lots of colors, and quick shipping. The carpet was also a perfect fit.
Their stuff is on sale now also--I think about $110 for a standard cab truck.
As far as installation--very easy. Once everything is removed, lay in your new carpet, find the location of your holes for seat brackets, seat belts, etc. Take a ball peen hammer, and with the carpet in place, lightly use round end of the hammer to mark where the holes are. You are actually using the bolt hole as a punch this way. It will usually score the carpet perfectly, and you can pull out the hole, or use a utility knife to finish cutting the hole out.
ACC makes very nice carpet and what Tony didn't mention is they can make you floormats to match your new carpet. You can even have an emblem or a name embroidered on them if you wish, if I'm not mistaken.
I bought a molded carpet kit directly from ACC - black loop 80/20 for my '76 F100 for $130 including sales tax and shipping, plus it fit perfectly. LMC wants over $200 for the same stuff.
Thank you all, I look into stockinterior and they have the most economical carpet.
Todds79, which type of carpet did you installed, they have different ones.
Thanks
I put the plush cut in mine. This is the regular price carpet, and is a nice carpet like in the newer trucks. I also have this in my 79, and it was the exact same carpet type.
First, their carpets are listed as being from '67 - '73 and '74 - '79. I have a '73, but I assume it is the same as '74 - '79. Is this correct, or was there some small difference that would make the '74 - '79 carpet not fit properly?
Second, they list high and low trans tunnels. Right now I have a low trans tunnel with the C6 auto, but I am planning on swapping in a manual. Will I have to get a high trans tunnel for this swap or can I use my old one and just cut a hole in it? I need to know before I order my carpet.
I went to stockinteriors.com the other day and I think I have decided to get the super plush carpet from them. I requested samples also so I can see what I am getting. Nice feature.

The only reason they separate '67-'73's from '74-'79's is because loop-pile carpet wasn't offered for '74-'79's - it was all straight-cut. Other than color, type of piling, and trans. tunnel height, they're all the same. They just like to make sure they sell you a faithful reproduction of the original offerings for your year truck.
The tunnel height is different from an automatic to a four speed standard (gear shift in the floor). If you plan on going with a four speed, order the high transmission tunnel. You have to cut the existing tunnel out and add an extra (taller hump) for the 4 speed.
if your going to replace carpet i would suggest installing "dynamat butle insulation it will quiet interior sound a lot i did all 3 of mine and dont regret it a bit
