Hey Guys,
I have a 2005 F150 with the V6 and therefore no auxillary transmisison cooler. I only have the dinky one that is part of the radiator.
I was wondering what the part number for the towing package transmission cooler was as I would like to purchase one of those instead of going to B&M or someone like that (due to better fit and finish and a more factory look).
Reason I ask is I just got a ScanguageII and I am seeing temps too high for me. (160-175 daily driving) (200-205 degrees on mountain passes here in northern arizona.) I have roughly 500 lbs of stuff in the bed at all times and occasionally tow a small landscape trailer (loaded 2500-3000 MAX)
I also have a scanguageII on my '07 with 5.4 and towing package. I run the same 160-175 normal driving and will get over 200 degrees pulling a 25 foot RV up a grade. My understanding is that those high temperatures are OK for short periods of time. The charts I've seen say that AVERAGE temperature of 200 or better will shorten transmission life. However it sure wouldn't hurt to have a bigger cooler on your truck. I don't know the part number though. Couldn't you ask at your dealers parts counter?

Reason: typo.
