Well after years of watching an wanting, my dream truck finally hit the drive way. I was able to purchase a 1979 F250 4x4 460 4spd. From decoding the vin it shows a 400 not 460. The truck has very little rust and runs great. Not sure how to post up pics, but I'll try. This thing really screams!!!! Just got it Saturady and have already started sanding and fixing. I'm sure I will probably be asking a bunch of questions in the future.
Thanks. I have wanted one since I was a teenager. Now closer to the big 40, it was my time. The doors are from a 78' and not sure what the bed is off of but it has two fill holes with only one fill neck. Also has the toolbox on the passenger side with no box just the door. Was looking to replace the bed since it is broken on the drivers side. Any good ideas for parts places besides LMC??
Another question, would this be considered a Highboy?? I know Ford didn't actually designate the name but wondered since it sits so high with no lift. Told you I would be asking questions......Also, how do I decode the front and rear axles?? What should they be for this year?

If it's truly a 79, then nope it's not a highboy. I think I've heard 78-79 F250 4WD's called "lowboys". Highboys have lift blocks in the rear spring pack, divorced transfer case and quite a few more significant details.
