I installed Gabriel gas shocks on mine 11 years ago and haven't had any issues.

Just ordered Monroe Gas Magnums for all four corners. Less than 100 bucks shipped.

Should be a significant improvement. With the current set I have horrible nose diving at highway speeds while changing lanes. The PO installed new ball joints and didn't get an alignment, so that is part of the problem too but there is no dampening right now...

I recently put new shocks on my 150 and went with The mid-grade "better" option Of the Gabriel shocks from Auto Zone. Had a guy at work put them on for me at a bargain of a price. It rides better than before but I am still getting used to how rough it still seems to be. I Have the twin or split beam axle in the front and wonder if that makes for a rougher ride.

Actually, the Gas pressurized shocks that push out do make the truck sit higher. Its not by much though.

My truck sits about 1/8 to 1/4 inch higher with the RSX than with the 5000. I measured it before and after.

The 5000 you can move in and out. The RSX and other pressurized shocks thats not so easy to do since they push out.

So, I can see how with new gas shocks versus worn out shocks that the bed won't sag as much when additional weight is added.

The load capacity of the truck is not increased though. It just handles it better.

I agree with you, but it's not much. 1/16th to 1/8th inch is more likely. No way 1/4 inch.

Eitherway, it's not going to make a noticable difference when loaded

I can only tell you what difference I saw. Before I changed the shocks, if I stood on the rear bumper, the back end would sag noticably. And I could bounce the truck like a basketball. I put on the new shocks (Apprx. $30 Gabriel Ultras) and when I stand on the bumper it doesn't drop nearly as much as it did before...and I can't bounce it like I could before either.

Like stated before. Shocks had(have) nothing to do w ride height or weight carrying capacity

I have a set of Skyjacker nitro shocks on my f150 and like them a lot. I had a set of rough country shocks that came with my lift kit and they were ok for about 20k miles, then they were about worthless. I wouldnt hesitate to go with the skyjackers again.
