Holy crap,
The stealership wants $300 for the housing on the end of the oil cooler that holds the filter because they don't sell any of the pieces for the oil bypass vavle. I lost the little disc inside the valve while trying to put it back together after cleaning it. Without this irritating little part the oil will not get filtered, so kinda important. Does anyone know where I can find one of these discs or something that will be a suitable replacement? I can't cough another $300 into this project for a $.50 disc, that's ridiculus. Thanks.
Will have to catch him when I wake up. I work and sleep late. I was wondering if something couldn't be fabricated in it's place? It's just a small disc. I thought I saw a thread once where kwik was talking about the bypass valve. I'll have to go search.
problem with local boneyards is that SD's are in high demand here in west texas. They are stripped in about two weeks after hitting the yard. There's a local SD shop that specializes in PSD's, I thought about hitting him up, but it seems like an odd part, and I don't know how many people would just have it laying around.
Dude, that little spring, disc, washer, and clip compose your bypass. Without it, you build no pressure on the oil filter to push oil through the filter. FIX IT now. You can see it when you remove the filter from the housing. That little 2/3" disc is kinda important.
