My first mistake today was to wash the truck and armorall the tires. 99 F250 S/D 4X4, V10, auto trans,430 Gears. 63K Miles original owner, and never beaten. I start the truck and leave my house and I notice that the truck is shifting from 1st to 2nd very hard. I then look down at the tach to check the RPM that it is shifting and I see both the ABS and the Service Engine Soon light on. Get to my destination about a mile from my house and check all the ususl suspects tranny fluid level ok and clean, fuse #15 which is for ABS and engine/tranny control modules ok???
I would start simple, and check all your grounds under the hood...
That is really strange, considering you didnt wash under the hood...
I would pay close attention to the trailer wireing in the back, You might have a cracked brake wire, or ground, and electricity is feeding back threw...
Sounds like you have a bad speed sensor in the rear and or broken wire to it. Do you have acess to a scan tool that will show you data. You should be able to see MPH in the PCM or TCM with a scan tool. With the symptoms you are describing I bet you wont.
Also if you can get to a autozone they have code readers so you can atleast get the codes in it and go from there.
I brought the truck to a good friend of mine who just happens to own a shop. He checked it on his scanner and found no output from the speed sensor. He cleared the codes and changed the speed sensor and I am back in buisness. Thanks for the guidance.
