I'm up in Connecticut. Right now I am starting to lean towards the C6. It is just too damn cheap to not consider ($100 including the converter). That and the donor truck the 302 was pulled from had a C6 so I already have a flexplate that will fit. The only thing that is stopping me is that I have heard that the C6 robs alot of horsepower. I'm not looking to race this truck but don't want something that bogs down going up even mild hills. Never having put a 302 in anything before I really don't know if the 302/C6 combination will work or if I will be disappointed in my choice.
I bought the C6 last night. Seemed in pretty decent shape for $100. Everthing moved freely, and there was very little rust anywhere on it. The guy appeared to know what he was talking about when asked questions regarding the transmission but I won't really know what I have until it is hooked up and tested. It came with the torque converter so I am all set with that but was missing the dipstick (hole was plugged) and kickdown cable. Anybody have a good source for a kickdown cable that will work with the C6, 302, and an edelbrock performer intake / carb? I tried looking at Jeggs but only found ones made for Holley carbs.
check out lokar products. All the guys i know run lokar parts and use edelbrock carbs. I would check there site and then find were they sell them, yearwoods i belive is a good seller of lokar imo
Try this. an AOD in overdrive has a 32% reduction, or leves you with 68% of the rear gear. A 3.00-1 ratio becomes 2.04-1 (3.00 x .68), a 3.50-1 ratio nets out 2.38-1, 3.73 ends up at 2.53, and 4.11 = 2.79 in O.D. Go to google and type in 'gear ratio calculator, you'l get sites that have gear ratio calculators that will show you rpm, mph... based on gear ratio and tire size.
