I have an idle surge when engine gets warm so i was told to unplug the icp and i did and the idle surge went away so i went and bought a new icp 140.00 later and installed it but it (still has the idle surge when engine gets warm.) now what. ?????
Had a friend with a similar problem with a 6.0 last winter. The dealer replaced the ICP but the problem was intermittent & started again a few days later. Found some posts on other sites saying it could be the EGR valve. He replaced the EGR and hasn’t had a problem since. Might be worth a look.
What is a ipr and were is it at. And will it leave me stranded, I still dont know why when i unplug the icp it smooths out. what will happen if i leave it unpluged. Since i have owned this truck it has nickel and dimed me to death, i thought these 7.3 engines was a good motor. so far i had to put a water pump ,clutch pressure plate and flywheel, idler pulley manifold gaskets, brakes, fuel pump. front brake lines. and now this idle surge. i am about ready to go back to a gasser.

Sounds like normal maintenance to me. How many miles on your rid?
Anyone think the exhaust backpressure sensor would cause this?
