Air Intake Hose, early '98...

Howdy Y'all,

I am in charge of maintenance on my ex-gf's 1999 F250. I use it once or twice a week, so hey. Couple years ago I noticed the larger air intake hose had a big tear in it: no telling how long it'd been like that. Never could find the right replacement part, so I used a flexible aluminum dryer hose. Worked fine for a couple years, now IT has split open. I ordered a new air intake hose, but OF COURSE it turned out to be for a later '98. Anybody have an air intake hose for an early '98? Anybody need a new air intake hose for a later '98?

I'd rather not do another dryer hose fix, since the first one went bad. I'd like to keep the old gal running a long time, and sucking in dirty air can't be good for her. I have no idea how much damage (if any) has been done due to TWO intake hose failures. I've never had this kind of heartache over an air intake before, it seems there's something about this design that's kind of lame.

Obviously I don't want to drop a bunch of bucks on an aftermarket intake: the ex and I get along fine, but not THAT well. If I have to I can go back to the dryer hose, unless somebody has a better recommendation for a short-ish length of flexible 4" hose.

Thanks everyone, you guys are great!

c.

Are you talking about a early 99 then or the old box style. If it is a early 99 you are going to have a hard time tracking a used one down, it took me about 6 months to find mine. You can get one from ed for about hundred dollars. Just to clarify are you talking about the hose from the turbo to the ccv or from the ccv to the airbox.

i would just keep the one you have and take out the air box and use a 6637 filter. then it doesn't matter what tube you have.
