flexible exhaust pipe

Been thinking of ways to get rid of those two ugly air intake hoses on my 89 fi50.I have an idea of using two 2 1/4 in. id flexible exhaust pipes for the hoses and rubber pipe connectors with clamps to connect them to the TB and air intake box. And painting the flexible exhaust pipes with high temp exhaust manifold paint. Do you think using the flexible exhaust pipe would present any problems?
Thanks;
Jack

Id try and go down to your muffler shop and get them to make it out of stainless steel. That would look alot better.
