Transmission Problems
It has a Ford metric pan, The numbers on the side of it are
RF-FOTP-7008-BB
Also on the door sticker it says trans. type - E
It shifts hard for awhile out of no where, and then it does fine while driving. Maybe it could be vapor lock?? cuz I checked the fluid and then 15 minutes later did fine.
Any help will be good

Have you checked for codes? Those will go a long way in troubleshooting any problem you encounter with these vehicles.
A suggesting I found (by another poster in another thread) is to replace the Transmission Range Sensor (TRS). It's on the driver's side of the tranny. My mechanic buddy says replacing the TRS involves unscrewing the old one and screwing in the new one.
My parts counter guy says the TRS costs (I get a discount because I belong to a local truck club) a little over $50, tax included.

I requested mine a while back and it contains a LOT of information.
The only thing it does is out of no where it shifts hard. It is always for diferent lengths of time, but yesterday was for only 30 minutes, And then we were at a stop light, and I could feel the down shift, then the green light came and it was back to nomal.
I just dont know what to do.
The problems you describe are some that I'm having. I've replaced the CPS and VSS several times with mediocre results.
I found out the TRS this week from a suggestion in another thread, so I thought I'd give it a try. Silly me, when I had the tranny replaced, I assumed all the "old" sensors would be replaced. The TRS, so far, is the only sensor directly related to the tranny that I haven't replaced.
Come on payday.
