I was thinking today about all of us with lifts and tires that throw off our speedo's.
I know their are fixes with programmers, just wondering if this is something that can be fixed on a chip?
Anyone know if Jody, Bill, or Tony can adjust the speedo on their chips?
But they can only do it three times. Something about limited flash memory (or something).
After that, if it's wrong, it's gonna' stay wrong.
There's a slick little "divide-by" box that takes the pulses out of the speed sensor and can correct them for your specific application. Someone will chime in with a link for you. Apparently, you can get very accurate readings using it.
Call Clay at Riffraff Diesel and he can get you AE. You can reprogram your speedo yourself. You can't go wrong.. plus you can diagnose any truck problems... or your buddies truck issues... cause they do call when you have AE... LOL
I asked Jody about this very topic when I ordered my chip from him. He told me that he carries an AE just for the purpose of correcting the PCM. The impression I got from him is that it makes his programs run better if the PCM is corrected for the correct tire size.
I have the Superlift Truspeed in my truck, and i dialed it in to within 1% of my true speed(i dialed it in with a GPS). From the factory with stock tires it was within 3% so im happy with it. The directions are really good and installation is easy, you just wire it into your speed sensor(under the battery on the drivers side) and a powers source(from fusebox). I took out the inner fender for installation and i think it took me about an hour or so to do the entire job. It also had a toggle switch so you can dial in 2 different settings(like if you run different tires in the winter) And you dont have to readjust it everytime you switch back and forth. All in all i really like it, and i definitely recemend it. With a chip or programmer on our trucks you can only adjust up to 35" tires too...from what i was told anyways. So if your running anything bigger than that, you gotta go this route to get it right.
Thank you all, I didnt realize there were so many options out there.
I have been thinking about AE recently, I think I just found a justification for dropping the coin.
Headed out on vacation soon, Will give Clay a call as soon as I get back.
Of course I cant waste on shipping, so might just have to think of a few more things my truck needs...

AE is the bomb diggity!
I am sure there are a few other things you might be able to pick up from him!
