I need to replace the CEL bulb on my 95 XLT. How much of the dash needs to come out to do this job? Are any special tools needed? I looked for a 'how to' or a 'diy' but couldn't find anything. Any advice is appreciated.
There is not really that much to take off to gain access to the dash cluster. Just look for all the little screws that hold the cluster into place and then make sure that you release all the other panels that are in conjunction to hold it there. After that it should be easy to replace the bulbs then just reverse the process to put it back. If it has a Console shifter then you will need to move the shift lever out of the way to get it out all the way but some times you have enough room to get to all the bulbs. Some times the screws are little hex nut bolts and there may be little room on some of them. Just be careful not to break the dash housing. Not easy to get off or move out some times too. Hope this helps. Oh and make sure the bulb is blown. Maybe just a bad connection.
