I was told something entirely different by sacramento chp. I need a doubles endorsement but NOT a commercial class A. He wasn`t even sure if I needed a non-commercial
Depending on the actual details of both the state regulations and their procedures (which are not always the same) it may be a difference with no difference.
Not all states distinguish between a "commercial" and "non-commercial" CDL and even in states that make a distinction, often that distinction goes away once you start talking about adding endorsements.
