Does anybody know of any trailer hitches on the internet or wherever that I could purchase? I want a class III hitch. Also, I want one that requires NO drilling and NO bumper removal. One that I could put on easily. I will be towing a 18.5 foot boat. I see that my bumper is rated at 3500 pounds. I have a 1995 Ford Explorer with the 4 liter in it. Would I even need a trailer hitch?
U-Haul has hitches and in many cases, they can install it for not much more than the cost of the hitch itself. There are many other places to find a hitch.
As far as using the bumper, make sure that it is rated for the trailer and tongue weight. Sometimes, bumpers can be a little low on the tongue weight rating. One advantage of using a hitch rather than the bumper is that the ball height can be adjusted by using ball mounts of different heights. That way, you can get the ball height to match the height of the trailer and keep the trailer level.
I bought mine from Leer. They have shops here in GA, don't know about ND. Total installed was around $150. If you have a Northern store around, they also sell hitches and accessories at a fairly good price.
try JC Whitney i purchased one for 98 bucks it only took 5 minutes to install it
the problem with using the stock bumper is that it is to high and will cause your trailer to sway when driving down the road
