I've thought about putting one in my center console and putting a couple of plugs on the back of it and a couple on the front somewhere. I really don't use the console for anything anyway.
We have inverters in our E250 work vans to run computer, printer, battery charger and small power tools. We use a 1000w inverter and have found that it's best to hook them up to a seperate Group 27 deep cycle battery on a battery isolator or they draw down the cranking battery pretty easily. It's easy to find a place to put the battery in the vans. On a truck, I think I'd put the battery in a toolbox adn buils some sort of venting system to make sure that they H created during charging can get away.
