Basic troubleshooting advice on electrical issues.
We often get questions about, taking a car or truck that has been sitting for years, and troubleshooting reasons why there isn't any power to the inside of the vehicle.
Here are a few simple basics to remember first before diving in too deep.
Get a brand new battery if you do not have one.
Also make sure the battery terminals on the cables are cleaned with a wire brush to ensure you’re getting a good contact.
Grab a test light and make sure that the solenoid is getting power to it, and work your way to the harness to see if it's getting to the inside of the vehicle, then troubleshoot your relays and switches from there.

That is a good basic testing. One of those circuit test lights works great. If you dont have one of those you could always take and make your own jumper wires (how i found out the wiring on my daily was the reasion my stock oil pressure gauge wasnt working anymore) and connect the items that arent working either directly to the battery or indirectly to the wires in the harness that are supposed to be hot.
