Yeah, the book says to disconnect the motor mounts and jack up the engine. Then insert 1" spacers (a block of wood) between each mount, and drop the engine back down. One inch is all I need.
with that 1", you have to take the pump and screen off before the oil pan will come out. same for putting back. set pan close, put pick up and pump on then fasten pan. make sure to use the 1 piece gasket, it will help prevent leaks later, and is a lot easire to deal with.some kits come with 4 wedge shaped plastic bolts that go in the corners, and holds the pan until you can get some bolts in, then you remove them with a screwdriver. I think you can buy them seperately, always saw them in felpro kits. make sure every thing is really clean.wear old cloths, the oil continues to drip off for a really long time after the pan comes off.
Sometimes though, I don't quite know what they are, and I don't know if they are on your engine, but there is some kind of electrical equipment attached to the valve cover near the back of the engine. I have had issues with these thingymabobbees being pressed against the firewall as the engine is jacked up.
